Girl Scouts is the world's pre-eminent organization dedicated solely to girls - all girls -

where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success

in the real world. In partnership with committed adults, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their

lives - like strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council is a not-for-profit organization serving over 9,000 girls throughout Calhoun, Jersey, Madison, Monroe, St. Clair and parts of Clinton, and Macoupin counties in western Illinois and Effingham, Coles, Edgar, Clark, Cumberland, Crawford and Jasper counties in eastern Illinois.

The Council is a charter member of Girl Scouts of the USA and a member agency of various United Ways.

Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council will be the forerunner in the development of self-esteem and leadership skills of girls, young women and adults.

Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., (GSUSA) founded by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912, is a not-for-profit organization chartered by a special act of Congress of the United States of America in 1950. GSUSA is the largest voluntary organization for girls in the world with a total membership of nearly 3.5 million members. Girl Scouts is open to all girls ages 5-17 who subscribe to its ideals as stated in the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

Girl Scout Promise:

On my honor I will try

To serve God and my country

To help people at all times

And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Girl Scout Law:

I will do my best to be

honest and fair,

friendly and helpful,

considerate and caring,

courageous and strong, and

responsible for what I say and do.

and to

respect myself and others,

respect authority,

use resources wisely,

make the world a better place, and

be a sister to every Girl Scout.
