Programs At River Bluffs |
| Welcome to STUDIO 2Bsm! This is the newest group for girls here at River Bluffs. At STUDIO 2B happenings you will: Belong, Become, Believe and Build alongside your Girl Scout sisters. This group is open to girls ages 11-17 and has taken the place of the former Older Girl Planning Board. Throughout the year the Program Staff will be planning fun and exciting events. We used the information from the surveys and held a vote at the Girl Power event to decide on what activities to hold. Check out the GSUSA STUDIO 2B website http://www.studio2b.org/ |
AdventurersRiver Bluffs Council, in conjunction with Okaw Valley Boy Scout Council, has just entered its sixth year of the Adventurers program (formerly known as Classroom Scouting). This joint Girl Scout/Boy Scout program meets the needs of girls and boys in special education classes in Cahokia, Dupo and Centreville. Through this program, girls have the opportunity to participate in traditional Girl Scout activities as part of their scheduled curriculum during the school day. The Adventurers program offers these girls the opportunity to participate in Girl Scouting with adults who are trained to meet their special needs. Currently the Adventurers program is offered at Jerome Elementary, Centreville Elementary, Huffman Elementary School, Bluffview Elementary, Maplewood Elementary and the Wirth Parks School. For more information about Adventurers, please contact Carolyn Brooks at (618) 692-0692, ext. 101, or send an e-mail to cbrooks@riverbluffs.org. |

The Team Challenge Course is an exciting creation of wooden structures, beams, and cables constructed to provide a series of mental and physical challenges for all. The combination of games, initiatives and problem solving activities on and off the course are used to develop skills such as teamwork, trust, problem solving, communication and self concept. During the sessions, a "challenge by choice" philosophy is used by the facilitators to create an emotionally and physically safe environment, allowing participants to participate at their own skill and comfort level. Each group experience is led by contracted facilitators who are invested in providing a fun, safe learning experience for all. For more information about the Team Challenge Course, please contact Emily Stanley, Outdoor Program Manager, at (618) 692-0692, ext. 111 or send an e-mail to estanley@riverbluffs.org Team Challenge Course Info & Reservation |

K.A.T.S. (Kreitner After-School Talented Sisters) Beginning in January of 1999, River Bluffs initiated an after-school Girl Scout Program at Kreitner Elementary School in Collinsville. Through this program, girls in kindergarten through 6th grade have the opportunity to register as Girl Scouts and meet after school to participate in weekly Girl Scout meetings. These meetings, conducted by Program Staff, consist of Girl Scout ceremonies, discussions of the Girl Scout Mission and ideals, Girl Scout badge work, crafts, songs and games. The opportunity to interact with other girls and receive positive reinforcement and recognition for newly-learned skills is intended to stimulate the personal growth of the girls who participate in this program. For more information, please contact Carolyn Brooks at (618) 692-0692, ext. 101, or send an e-mail to cbrooks@riverbluffs.org. |

The program, conducted by program staff, also provides a broad base of activities that give girls exposure to skills such as leadership, development, conflict-resolution, decision-making, and respect for others and themselves.
