Volunteers are the key to council training success!
Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council has a group of volunteers that are instrumental in providing training for all our membership. They are the Council Trainers and the Training Coordinators. Through their commitment to Girl Scouting, the council is able to provide the number and variety of training courses that it does.
If you are interested in becoming a Council Trainer,
contact Daketta Marshburn, Volunteer Development Director.
Train the Trainer Course will be offered June 14, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Glen Carbon Service Center.
Every year volunteers give a tremendous amount of time and talent to ensure that the volunteers in our council are trained. These volunteer trainers make it possible for our council to provide quality training for our membership.

What Do Council Trainers Do?
Deliver and evaluate courses and workshops for other adult Girl Scout volunteers (and sometimes Girl Scouts 11-17). Trainers choose the courses they teach based upon their interests, including everything from program level training, and First Aid/CPR to troop camp and enrichments. (Trainers may also choose to contribute to the development of new, or the revisions to, existing courses and workshops.)
What Are The Benefits?
As a Council Trainer, you will:
develop presentation skills which may also be useful in your professional or personal life;
receive free training on adult learning styles and group dynamics;
receive ongoing support and recognition;
meet other adult volunteers from across the Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council jurisdiction;
gain a deep sense of personal satisfaction from sharing your time and talents to help girls grow strong.
Who Can Become A Council Trainer?
Any adult who cares about girls and their future, including: women, men, college students, working professionals, stay-at-home parents, retirees......just to name a few! Prior experience and knowledge of Girl Scouting is helpful, but not required to become a Council Trainer. We will train you!
What Are The Expectations?
Becoming a Council Trainer is easy and Fun! Basic requirements include:
interview with and appointment by the Volunteer Development Director;
registered membership with Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.;
completion of an 8-hour Train the Trainer class;
auditing the courses you wish to teach;
team training with an Experienced level trainer when you deliver your first couple of courses.
We ask that you conduct at least twelve (12) hours of training per year and attend an annual Trainer’s Update. As a Council Trainer, you will have the opportunity to teach courses in your own community and travel throughout the council’s service area.
