Friends of Girl Scouting:

We wish to thank everyone who supported the 2008 Friends of Girl Scouting campaign. The campaigns in Edwardsville and the River Bend area were both a success. Though early in the process, we are looking forward to the 2009 campaigns in Belleville, Effingham, Edwardsville and the River Bend area. At this time, we are looking for chairpersons for each of these communities. If you would like to volunteer and get involved with the campaign, please contact the Development Department.

Did You Know?

This year the Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council will spend over $70,000 in financial assistance to ensure all girls can benefit from the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

During 2008, the Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council invested $2.6 million in direct services for our 9,500 girl members and 3,000 adult volunteers. That represents about $260 per girl in your community.

We are looking for people living and working in these communities to join our Development office in creating a Development team to guide and support our development staff.  We are also looking for individuals to help create a Friends of Girl Scouting group. If interested, please contact Pamela Hastings-Perlmutter, Director of Development, (618) 692-0692/(800) 345-6858, ext. 144 or pperlmutter@riverbluffs.org

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to the Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council, please send your check to:

Grant Funding

The Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council continuously seeks grant opportunities to help fund a variety of our Girl Scout programs.  Three of the primary programs needing funding are:  In-School Scouting, World of Exploration and Adventurers.  The Girl Scouts receive grants from various foundations including: The Kemper Foundation, Employee Community Fund of Boeing St. Louis, Conoco Phillips Company, The Suburban Journals Old News Boys, just to name a few.

Money received through these grants support one of the three programs and helps pay for girl program development and financial assistance for girls in need.  If you know of a corporation that supports community organizations please contact the Development Department with your recommendations.

Juliette Gordon Low Society

The Juliette Gordon Low Society was formed to recognize individuals who’ve made a substantial contribution to the Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council’s Endowment Fund.  The fund was established to ensure quality Girl Scout programs will be available to future generations of girls.  A designated gift of $1,000 or more qualifies one for membership into the Juliette Gordon Low Society.  And, it easy!  All one has to do is make a cash gift of $1,000 or more, name the Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council as owner or beneficiary of a new or existing insurance policy; make an outright gift of appreciated securities or real estate to the Council, or include the Council in your will.  Substantial tax savings and other benefits are available through gifts and commitments to the Juliette Gordon Low Society.  For information about joining the society, please call the Development Department at (618) 692-0692/(800) 345-6858.
