Update on Community Service Bars: Contributions to Girl Scouting

Girls interested in earning their Community Service Bar must complete the Community Service Bar Proposal Form. On this form, girls list their chosen organization and outline the training that will be completed. Tracy Barnes, Program Manager, must approve both the organization and the training selections prior to any service being done. Once approved, girls may begin their community service.

To earn the Bar, girls are required to contribute a minimum of 25 hours to the chosen organization. The girls’ advisors then submit the Community Service Log to Tracy. Advisors may then purchase the Bar in the Service Center Shop.

Standards for pursuing these recognitions are outlined on page 128 of the Cadette Girl Scout Handbook, page 129 of the Resource Book for Senior Girl Scouts, and page 36 of the Guide for Cadette and Senior Girl Scout Leaders.

If you have questions or concerns, contact Tracy at 618-692-0692/800-345-6858, extension 112, or tbarnes@riverbluff.org
