Girl Scouting at the Gateway Arch and the Old Courthouse
The Gateway Arch has created a wide variety of FREE programs to help your Girl Scouts fulfill requirements for Try-It’s and badges listed below. These programs are facilitated by National Park Service
Rangers. In addition, you’ll receive a user-friendly Leader Activity Guide to help you prepare your Girl Scouts for their visit, provide information on meeting badge or Try-It requirements and suggested pre- and post-visit activities. All programs are approximately 50 minutes in length. Reservations for Girl Scout programs must be made at least one month in advance. A minimum of six Girl Scouts or maximum of 30 Girl Scouts is required to book a reservation. If you have less than six Girl Scouts we will try to place you with a previously scheduled group.

Daisies – Family Girl Scout Workshops
Programs designed for Daisy Girl Scouts and their families. Each program highlights a different, age-appropriate theme. Girls and their families will enjoy a National Park Ranger-led program followed by a hands-on craft activity. All programs are from 2 – 3:30 p.m. on Sundays.January 27, 2008 ...........Fun & Games Explore the Museum of Westward Expansion and learn about the lives and past times of nineteenth century boys and girls. Daisies will make and take home a pioneer toy.
February 10, 2008..........Where we Live! Explore the history and cultural heritage of the St. Louis community, using historic photos, maps, artifacts, and the galleries at the Old Courthouse. Daisies will and take home a picture frame.
March 16, 2008..............Cooperation on the Trail In the Museum of Westward Expansion, Daisies will experience some of the difficulties and challenges faced by early pioneers traveling by wagon across prairies, rivers, and mountains to reach a new home in the west. Daisies will make and take home a pioneer toy.
Brownies
Listening to the Past Discover the important role storytelling played in the education of pioneer and American Indian children. Addresses the Listening to the Past Try-It. (at the Arch.)
Eco- Explorer Travel on the Gateway Arch Riverboats to explore the ecology of the Mississippi River. Brownies will make their own observation and draw conclusions about the river environment. Addresses the Eco-Explorer Try-It. (Aboard the Gateway Arch Riverboats.) Cost for this program is $4.00 per participant.
Juniors
Local Lore of St. Louis Follow a self-guided scavenger hunt as you explore areas near and around the Arch and Old Courthouse for signs of history. Then learn about St. Louis’ past with your National Park Ranger. Addresses the Local Lore badge. (At the Old Courthouse.)
Water Wonders Explore the Mississippi River while learning about the wonderful world of water and how to protect this precious resource. Addresses the Water Wonders badge. (Aboard the Gateway Arch Riverboats.) Cost for this program is $4.00 per participant.
