Lincoln
Log Cabin Historic Site
What was it like for a young child living in 1840’s, in Central Illinois? Junior Girl Scouts will find out as we visit this state historic facility and the staff there transports us back to that time period. From clothing of the period, to actually having chores to do, dipping candles for light to read by, we’ll see what it was like to be growing up in the 1840’s. It wasn’t easy and young Abe overcame a lot of challenges to survive and become our President. Girls will actually dip candles they can take home with them and receive a patch. Please have girls wear play clothes as they will actually take part in the chores of the day. Due to this facility being supported by the State of Illinois, the program costs only reflect the supplies required and the patch. Located in Coles County, Illinois, directions will be sent with confirmation letters.
