Deadline to register: Thursday, April 3, 2008 by 5:00 p.m.
Come learn about our feathered friends in one of the most beautiful places in Alton! The Migratory Bird Sanctuary is part of the Great Rivers Museum and Lock and Dam site on the Mississippi river. Many birds, from pelicans to herons lounge about the watershed area. Make sure you bring a camera for this great program!
Sample stations:
What is a Bird? - Explore the characteristics that make a bird a bird. Why do they have feathers? What characteristics do they share with other animals?
Bird Search - Do you know how to use binoculars or a spotting scope? Here is your chance to get some tips on their usage while searching for our birds.
Helping at Home - Discover how you can help the birds that call your backyard home. Find out some of the hazards birds face and their solutions.
Registration is $5 and includes take home material and a Bird Watching patch.
