Bronze Award Project

"I have a peanut allergy!"

Jessica Quicksall, a Girl Scout Junior in Effingham County, Service Unit 611, has completed her Bronze project. Jessica lives with a severe Peanut allergy and must be mindful of all the foods she eats, as many are ran on the same lines in food companies that nut products are. A reaction to nuts could be fatal to her, and time is of the essence in surviving a reaction. Jessica and her family have had to contact food companies when the packaging doesn’t list nut-free ingredients or lines that may have been in contact with other nut products. Jessica is always mindful of foods at school, youth activities, and when attending events that serve food. She often takes her own safe snacks to avoid problems. Her project is helping raise awareness and informing others of safe products that could be consumed.
