Ready, Set, Go!

It’s almost Girl Scout Cookie Time! As a result, we’ve received many questions regarding the 2007 Cookie Program. Following are a few of the most frequently asked questions (with answers). Please contact your Service Unit Cookie Chair or Amanda Kaemmerer at the service center, 618-692-0692/800-345-6858, extension 110, or akaemmerer@riverbluffs.org  with any additional questions and be sure your troop is represented at your Service Unit’s Cookie Training.

  1. What if a customer does not get his/her cookies? What do I, as a leader, do? Girls will provide customers with a receipt card. This card has the council’s phone number in event the customer would not receive his/her order. If a leader becomes aware that a girl has not delivered her cookies, the girl and her parent (depending on age) should be spoken with about the situation.

  2. What happens if a customer wants to pay by check? Girls can accept checks from customers. All checks should be written out to Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council or GSRBC. These checks should be deposited by the troop leader/cookie chair directly into the Council Cookie Account.

  3. When will the troop receive its cookie proceeds? Troop proceeds will be issued as checks to each troop and mailed to the troop leader. Troops will have their checks no later than the end of November.

  4. Can a troop go door to door during caravan weekend? The Cookie Caravan is not a door-to-door sale. During the Caravan, customers should approach the girls.

  5. Do leaders have to attend service unit cookie training? It is necessary for someone from each troop to attend the cookie training. It can be the leader, co-leader, Troop Cookie Chair, etc. If no one is able to attend on the designated date, the troop needs to arrange for an alternate training time with the Service Unit Cookie Chair.

  6. Will the profit for the troops be the same as before? The troop proceed scale ranges from $.50 - $.63 per box depending on the box per girl average. This is the same scale as last season.

  7. Will Council accept cash from Cookie Chairs? Cash, troop checks and checks from customers can all be deposited into the Council Cookie Account. Deposit slips for these transactions must be turned in with the cookie order. Orders without proof of full payment will NOT be processed.

  8. Who determines how much the troop gets back for proceeds? The Board of Directors set the proceed scale. The level for each troop is determined by the troop box per girl average.

  9. Once the initial sale is over, will troops be able to get extra cookies? Troops have the opportunity to continue taking orders after the initial turn-in. If a troop chooses this option, girls can take orders through the beginning of November. The troop will need to have girls’ orders and money collected, tabulated, and ready to turn in at the Service Unit delivery site. Forms will be distributed with pick-up sites listed. A deposit receipt for full payment of the order must be attached to the form when it is turned in at the Service Unit delivery site. The extra cookies will be available from the select sites listed on the form on December 10. Troop proceeds on the extra boxes will be a flat $.50 and will be received by each troop no later than the end of December.

  10. Is the troop responsible if a customer’s check bounces? All checks from customers should be written to Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council or GSRBC and deposited directly into the Council Cookie Account. The troop will not be penalized for a bad check from a customer. River Bluffs Council has partnered with a check recovery system to help us collect on any bad checks.
