Girl Scout Promise
On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country; To help people at all times; And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout. |

A Big Congratulations! Gillian Burroughs, a 5th grader from troop #235 in Edwardsville, was selected by the Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council as our local honoree for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award. This award recognizes outstanding community service by young Americans. Gillian has served her community by volunteering in several positions within her church. She belongs to the Kidz Choir, the Kidz at Nite and the Neighbor- hood, and is a leader of the Kidz Praise team. She also has volunteered for food drives, shoe drives, and Operation Christmas Child. Most recently, Gillian has participated in her church’s annual "Judgment Day" production. Through volunteering, Gillian has learned that it takes more than one person to get a job done and that a smile and a great attitude can go a long way. Her application will now be eligible for the State Honoree Award, where one applicant is picked from each state and that applicant will receive $1000, a beautiful silver medallion and an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. in May 2008 as well as being eligible to be named America’s top youth volunteer. The Girls Scouts of River Bluffs Council is very proud to have Gillian as a Girl Scout and we wish her the best of luck! |
