Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council February 2008 Notes to Leaders |
"Bring A Buddy" Events
Looking for a way to boost girl & adult membership in your service unit? Try hosting a "Bring A Buddy" event to recruit new members. This type of event may be hosted by service units or troops. Before planning gets underway, there are a few steps you should consider to ensure your event is a success.

Service units & troops
The service unit or troop hosting should have a display showing the kinds of activities girls do in Girl Scouting as well as give a brief presentation (especially if parents stay). Once the event is planned information should be distributed to girls currently registered so they can invite & bring a non-Girl Scout friend with them.
During the event it is important to take attendance and get contact information on all that attend. Then remember to contact the girls shortly after the event to find out if they would like to join Girl Scouts. The Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council provides a patch to each currently registered girl whose "buddy" (girl or adult) chooses to join.
Some examples of "Bring A Buddy" activities include: roller skating, bowling, Girl Scout Sampler, magic show, carnival, crafts, sock hop, etc. Safety-Wise guidelines and your imagination are your only limitations when planning your event.
* Please mail/deliver your completed insurance form and payment made out to Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council 2 weeks prior to your event to: Barbara Boyer, Membership Services Director, #4 Ginger Creek Pkwy., Glen Carbon, IL 62034
