Unfortunately, an error has been identified. On page 52, under "New Leadership Program Model" the right side of the table "New Leadership Development Model Effective 2008" has incorrect grades listed for Girl Scout Cadettes. Correct grades are 6-8; not 9-10.

If errors are found as you use this resource please contact Sheila Holm, sholm@riverbluffs.org concerning the error.

Corrections will be published in forthcoming issues of the Notes to Leaders.

Celebrate…..National Girls & Women in Sports Day - This is a special day to honor the accomplishments of female athletes and to

highlight the benefits of staying active. Self-confidence, leadership, teamwork, respect for others, responsibility, dedication, health and well-being – these are only some of the myriad benefits of sports and physical activity. While the official day is February 6, you can still plan an activity anytime during February to promote overall health and well-being. Throughout our 95 years, Girl Scouts has offered innovative programs for a healthy lifestyle. Some activities may work towards earning the Dancercize, Girl Sports, Sports & Games Try-Its, Adventure

Sports, Court Sports, Field Sports, Sport Sampler or Winter Fun badges, or the

On the Court, On the Playing Field, Sports for Life IPs, or the On Track Focus Book.

World Thinking Day 2008

Vanessa & Angela Simmons - Vanessa and Angela, daughters of musician Rev Run and stars of MTV’s reality series Run’s House, have signed on to become spokes-people for Girl Scout entrepreneurship and financial literacy programs! This partnership focuses on promoting leadership experiences for girls. As part of Vanessa & Angela’s contribution, they have made a short DVD presentation to discuss their entrepreneurial success in the fashion industry. By sharing their business experiences, Vanessa and Angela are hoping that Girl Scouts nationwide will be inspired to use their business tips during cookie sales, earning money for their troop, or even inspiring girls to start their own business one day. This DVD will be available in the resource library to check out soon!

Belle of Louisville - Girl Scout troops have been enjoying cruises on the Belle of Louisville for over nine decades! A cruise is a great way for girls to experience first hand the oldest operating river steamboat of her kind in the world. She’s unique, and she’s a remarkable piece of America’s history. Ask for a program link resource sheet that shows how Girl Scout awards and a steamboat can go hand-in-hand.
