Service units all have areas in which they excel. Collinsville/Maryville Service Unit has many. This Service Unit is overdue for some major recognition across the board! Their year started out with a wonderful service team gearing up for recruitment. They were chosen as part of the "pilot program" so they had to switch gears and work with River Bluffs staff members instead of a volunteer in the Service Unit Manager position. Several volunteers spent time at individual recruitments as well as the area-wide recruitment held for many schools to begin their year with a BANG! It did not stop there! After forming a LARGE group or troop at Holy Rosary School in Fairmont City lead by Mary Migalla (the first troop there in MANY years) as well as forming other brand new group troops and single program level troops the volunteers in this Service Unit are serving almost 550 girls – that is almost 100 girls OVER their membership goal! Thanks to Mary Lucas, registrar, for going through countless registration forms! In addition to going above and beyond their membership goal, they have planned and executed several great and well attended Service Unit events such as window painting in downtown Collinsville (coordinated by Nancy Dickey), Thinking Day (coordinated by Mary Lucas), and a bowling event (coordinated by Lori Frick and Kim Kunst) to mention a few. Group trainings were scheduled and completed with Training Coordinator, Donna Beachamp leading the way. In addition to all these wonderful happenings, the TOCs have been in full swing mentoring leaders, supporting them – and yes, stepping in and helping with conflicts (the fun part of the job!).
