Welcome Julie!  We are pleased to welcome Julie Monken to the staff of Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council. Julie is the new Director of Membership and will be working closely with the Membership Staff and Service Unit Managers to ensure that every girl has the opportunity to be a Girl Scout.

Julie has 20 years of professional experience as a Girl Scout staff member. For the last 15 years, she has served as a Membership Development Manager with Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri in St. Louis, MO. Prior to that, she worked in membership at a council in suburban Chicago and Maine. Julie is a graduate of SIU – Carbondale with a degree in Outdoor Recreation. Originally from Highland, IL, she was a girl member in River Bluffs Council for many years.

Julie looks forward to working with all current and prospective volunteers to ensure that we make Girl Scouting available to all girls. To contact her, call the Corporate Service Center in Glen Carbon or email her at jmonken@riverbluffs.org

Congratulations to our Outstanding

These two girls have stood out in leadership, school and service to the community. Rachel, who is from Belleville, will be attending Missouri State University this fall. Alyssa, who is also from Belleville, will be attending Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in the fall. Let’s all wish them good luck for the future!

Girl Scouts Go Green-er Community Service Project Update

Ooops…Correction…Troop 589( not troop 587, as previously listed) were the 1st recipients of the GSRBC ALL STAR Patch!!!

Your hard work led to the distinction of being the 1st troop in the council to earn this new patch. Way to Go girls!

Going camping this summer?!?

Remember, you can supplement your activities with the Summer Fun Patch program and the Camp Tour Patch program. Summer Fun patches are new every year, so you can make it a troop tradition like many of our troops have. The Camp Tour patch program is in full swing – we have a couple of troops nearing completion of the tour! Watch for their troop numbers and towns this fall in the Notes to Leaders!

For more information on the Summer Fun or Camp Tour patch programs, check out the What’s Up patch booklet found online and in the council library. For questions or comments, contact Emily Stanley, Outdoor Program Manager at 618-692-0692 / 800-345-6858 ext. 111 or estanley@riverbluffs.org

Girl Scouts S.O.A.R. - Summer Opportunities and Adventures in Reading - Report Form - tbarnes@riverbluffs.org

The Belleville area will host a Community Face-to-Face fundraising campaign in June. This will be the third campaign of its kind in 2008. The River

Bend area hosted one in March and the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon communities held theirs in April. These campaigns are easy and great fun. We are looking for volunteers who live and work in the Belleville area to help make our Belleville event a great success. If you’d like to support this fund raising effort please call Pamela Hastings-Perlmutter, Development Director, at 618-692-0692 or pperlmutter@riverbluffs.org  All money raised in this campaign will be spent entirely in the Belleville area to support girls in financial need and to produce year- round programming.
